READY FOR THIS? WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE:

  1. A match (or two!) who is compatible with your preferences and what you're willing to offer - in whatever season of life you're in, regardless of how far into your draft you are.
          - Are you a cheerleader, coach, or critic?
          - Do you want to work with someone in your genre and time zone?
          - You'll also read anonymous WIP samples to help narrow your partnership options!
  2. Mindset Training (one-time enrollment fee of $97 required)
          - How to Calibrate Your Writer's Ego
          - How to Give and Receive Feedback
          - How to make the most out of your partnership
  3. Community
         - A specific room in our Quill & Cup Sisterhood Slack for BFFs who have been matched to gather and support
         - Partners you know you can count on to help motivate you when you're feeling stuck
         - A chance to be re-paired again and again in case your genre or needs change (no Mindset Training required!)

This 3 part Best Feedback Friend Match Program will teach you what you want in a critique partner - and how to be safe in return -, build mindset that will ensure you are resilient to give and receive feedback without nervous breakdowns, and create genuine relationship with those in your BFFship.

Advocate for Your Needs

Regardless of where you are in your writing process, you are able to participate in the BFF Program. The beauty of BFFships is that you are safe (and highly encouraged, responsible for) advocating for your needs whether you're brainstorming, outlining, drafting, or revising.  Filling out our initial interest form communicates what you're looking for in a partnership and asks for a 1-3 page sample of your writing. Submitting this Interest Form communicates these needs to the Quill & Cup team and begins the courting process!

Receive Mindset Training

BFF Program Mindset Training provides writers the knowledge, tools, and experiences as antidotes to miscommunication, misaligned expectations or subpar mindset work that might keep you from having a powerful critique partner experience.

This is a self-paced course with seven modules: The Writer's Ego: What it is, what's healthy, what's not, and how to calibrate it; giving and receiving feedback, and way more!

Create Genuine Relationship

BFFships created through the BFF Match Program work because we take into account the WHOLE person. This is not "just" a professional pairing that exchanges work back and forth. Instead, we take time to honor people > prose. If you're looking for a partnership that withstands seasons and honors boundaries, our Match Program ensures a match doesn't happen until that mindset shift has happened.

NEXT BFF MATCH LAUNCH:

JANUARY 2025.

Every January and July, Quill & Cup members have the opportunity to be matched with a BFF (Best Feedback Friend) partner through our BFF Program (because critique partner sounds scary).

You do NOT have to have a completed manuscript or even written scenes to share. Ideas and brainstorming that end up in an outline are a GREAT place to be within a BFF pairing/group.

The intention/goal is to have the BFF Program be an added layer of accountability for you – at some point, ideas have to hit paper, and Hedgies in the BFF Program have reported that their stories are written faster because they know someone is waiting to read how the story ends!

"I'm not done yet but I tell you MFA programs need this kind of training before students give feedback to each other. It really is important to think about mindset as a critique partner, of any kind."

Ellie Jacobson

"I kept going back to the videos and captions to jot down more notes. So many great takeaways and lessons to carry into the BFFship and beyond. The ego spectrum was really eye-opening and provided a great visual to help me recognize how my own swings very far both ways and where I'd like it to land! I also love the emphasis on asking your BFF for what you need. Sounds so simple, but that little bit of communication can make such a big difference for both partners."
